Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains what information Locara ("we," "our") collects when you use the Locara website and job search tools, and how it's used. Locara is a commute-first job board that helps job seekers find work based on how far it is from home, and helps employers post and manage job listings.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign up with a password, a securely hashed version of it (we never see or store your plain-text password). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google — we don't receive your Google password.

Profile and preferences. Your name, a default home location label, your preferred job categories, and your commute-time and pay preferences, if you choose to set them.

Job activity. Jobs you save, mark as applied to, or mark as not interested in, and any applications you submit through Locara (including answers to a listing's screening questions, if it has any).

Location data. An address or location you enter to search for jobs by commute time. This is used to calculate distances and travel times to job listings and isn't shared with employers unless you submit an application.

Employer accounts. If you create an employer account, we collect your company's name, description, website, and location information for the listings you post, along with billing information (see "Payments" below).

Usage data. Basic technical information like which pages are viewed and when listings are viewed or clicked, used to keep the product working and to give employers aggregate view counts on their own listings.

Third-party services we use

Locara relies on a handful of third-party services to work, and each of them processes some of the data above as part of providing that service:

Supabase hosts our database and handles account authentication. Google provides driving/transit directions and traffic estimates (using the addresses involved in a commute calculation), nearby-amenities data (using a job listing's location, not yours), and optional "Sign in with Google." Mapbox provides the map itself and address search/geocoding. Adzuna supplies some of the job listings shown on Locara, alongside listings posted directly by employers. Stripe processes payments for employer subscriptions and listing purchases.

We don't sell your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with third-party advertisers.

Payments

If you're an employer and purchase a subscription or listing credits, your payment is handled entirely by Stripe — Locara never sees or stores your full card number. We do keep a record of your subscription status and billing history through Stripe so we can apply the correct plan to your account.

Cookies

Locara uses a cookie to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Your choices

You can update your profile information or delete your saved job activity at any time from your account. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted entirely, contact us using the information below and we'll take care of it.

Being found by employers. With “Let local employers find me” on (the default for job seeker profiles), businesses near you may see an anonymous version of your profile (first name, skills, availability and approximate commute time) and invite you to apply. Your contact details and address are only shared if you accept an invite. You can turn it off at any time in Profile → Preferences. We don't sell your personal information.

Emails. You can choose which notification emails you get in your email settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any email. Account emails like password resets are always sent.

Children's privacy

Locara is intended for job seekers and employers, and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy
